Japanese Vase
March 2021- June 2021
Description
In this piece I was inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi- which is when one repairs pottery by putting the pieces back together with gold. I created three different material states for both the vase and the flowers. I also put the flowers on a morph target so it would be as if they were growing and wilting. The vase starts in an unglazed state, and then moves into it's glazed state, and then finally it takes on its final form- the Kintsugi state. Below is my process which includes object and material research as well as my materials and material blueprinting. I was responsible for everything.
